We met on the 10th of April and it was fabulous to see new faces. We had quite a lively discussion on the various television and movie adaptations; the majority preferred the 1995 BBC version (with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle), but there was vocal support for the 2005 movie (with Matthew Macfadyen and Kiera Knightley) and the 1980 BBC version (with David Rintoul and Elizabeth Garvie).
Kay mentioned a new novel based on Sense and Sensibility; The Three Weissmanns of Westport.
Also, there is a new BBC adaptation of Emma starring Romola Garai as Emma and Jonny Lee Miller at Mr Knightley. There is a fabulous review here and another review here (I think this might be my favourite Emma adaptation).
Our next meeting is the 12th of June at 2:30pm and we are discussing Mansfield Park.
